Global Game Jam 2026 / Theme: Masks
"Is this the right moment to wear this mask?"
You awaken on the floor of an impossibly vast maze of repeating corridors. Two ancient masks rest before you. Each one grants a single use power, and each use consumes a piece of your identity forever. Escape is possible, yet every choice you make is permanent.
The corridors repeat because the mind is caught in a loop. The maze exists to hold those who refused to let go. Those who refused treatment, refused to forget, and refused to accept their loss.
The architecture ignores logic. Halls extend into darkness, doors open onto rooms already visited, and walls move the moment they are left unobserved. This place was not built by human hands.
The system did not heal you. It contained you.
Coping mechanisms. Single use. Irreversible cost.
"Show me what matters."
Highlights the two objects that matter, the Key and the Exit gate. Nothing else is marked, so you can see where to head without the game spelling out the route.
"If I just knew the way out."
Highlights the one correct route to the exit gate. The path that leads out glows green, and every other corridor stays dark, so you always know which way is forward.
Warning: a mask worn at the wrong moment can trap you for good. The maze remembers.

The Game Loop
The final gate is sealed from the moment you wake, and nothing in the corridors opens it by force. A single photograph hangs deeper in the maze. It is the true way through, yet it stays silent until you have found the locked gate with your own two eyes. Discovery has to come first. That order is the whole puzzle.
The gate is locked. Find it before anything else will respond to you.
Stand before the frame on the wall and press E to examine it.
It turns on the wall the way a portrait shifts in a haunted house, and the sealed gate releases its lock.
The photograph stays inert until the exit has been discovered. Approach it too early and the wall gives you nothing.
Ambient Telemetry
Every mask you wear is lost for good. The experience moves through three acts, and the psychological pressure rises with each one.
Clean corridors that slowly degrade, and the temptation to spend a mask too early.
Pressure peaks here. Spend a mask at the wrong moment and the route can close for good.
The final gauntlet. The maze fights back, and the way out waits behind the photograph.
Everything you need to survive the corridors
Each mask lasts fifteen seconds. Once used, it is consumed permanently. Choose carefully, because the maze remembers.
The masks remember their creators. Will you wear the wrong face?
